Want to take advantage of this beautiful fall weather? Check out all the activities that the Outdoor Education Center has to offer! You can go on “The Flying Squirrel” pole course, ride down a 1200 foot zipline or take a group to complete a low ropes course!
The challenge courses that the OEC offers allow UNC organizations to build a sense of community and learn more about each other. Every course involves mental and physical challenges, requiring groups to work as a team to accomplish goals. Stepping outside your comfort zone will foster a shared learning experience, openness and cooperation.
The 20-acre wooded area has over 10 low ropes courses, 12 high ropes courses. The programs at the OEC are open to group seven days a week and can be half a day of low ropes, half a day of high ropes or a full day combination! Find what works best for your group. With the low ropes, your group will build trust through a sequence of games and challenges. The high ropes will encourage members to push past perceived personal limits.
Groups anywhere from 15 people to 125 typically use these challenge courses. Past participants include residence life, athletics, Greek, faculty groups and student clubs. People of all ages and levels of physical abilities have participated. Fees vary depending on the format and length of your program. For more information on all the different courses offered at the OEC, check out their home page.
